"Creating Jobs Through Self Employment"
SELF EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS PROGRAM
The SEB program can assist those individuals who are eligible participants as defined below:

The applicant must be legally entitled to work in Canada;

The applicant must be currently unemployed or underemployed;
-
The applicant must be EI eligible or have had an EI claim in the last three years (Reachback eligible);
-
The applicant is re-entering the labour force after having left on maternity/parental benefits in the past five years;
-
The applicant must reside and plan to operate their business in the area of Prince Rupert, Port Edward, the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii) or the surrounding North Coast villages.

How to Start the Process
The application process will take several weeks to complete. The first step is as follows:
- Interested clients must first meet with an Employment Counsellor at one of the Career Resource Centres located in the region. During this meeting, the CRC staff will develop a career "Action Plan" with you as well as check that you meet the program eligibility criteria. The counsellor will forward a referral to Hecate Strait's SEB program staff, if your action plan is self employment
